Older People are now booking online more and more
It is often percieved that older travelller and senior holidaymakers are more likely to prefer the personal touch when it comes to booking travel products such as flights, hotels, insurance etc.
However there is definite change in the travel industry with the Over 55s starting to prefer technology to people when planning their travels.
Research shows that 23% of the total internet population is over 55, a sizeable portion of users that shows that senior travellers are heading online more readily than the tourism industry may have suspected.
It's not just on their laptops or PCs as well that older people are lookng for travel deals. Increasingly the senior population are being armed with smartphones and are embracing smartphone apps to plan their trips overseas.
It's not just a young person's game anymore!
Data from eMarketer shows that 69% of senior US customers will make use of the internet in 2014 and a study by AARP goes on to suggest that 80% of customers over 50 will do so when planning their holidays abroad.
So providers of travel products that specialise on the over 55s are being urged to embrace technology for their customers or otherwise they may well miss out.
